General Council Delegates
Under Local 1000's bylaws, EXCEPT for the right to
vote for delegates and statewide officers, ALL other rights of members
including the right to approve dues structures and the Local 1000 budget, are
exercised by and through their delegates. This is why the position
of delegate is one of the most important position within the union.
Each District Labor Council (DLC), also known as a local chapter is
entitled to elect one delegate for every 100 members. These
delegates generally meet only at a meeting called General Council which is
held every two years. The next General Council will be held in
October 2007 in San Jose. Special meetings of delegates may be held
in between General Councils and other issues may also be decided by mail
ballot.
The following is a list of Delegates by DLC and how they voted during
the special delegate meeting held October 21 when the dues increase plan
was adopted.
Please note that because there was no roll call
vote, this list was compiled from personal observations by other delegates
and may take some time to complete. Please check this page regularly
for updates. If no information is available on how your
delegates voted, you should contact them directly and ask how they voted.
If you do not know the DLC to which you belong, please
use this list to locate major worksites.
If you still unable to find your DLC,
email us the name of the department and
complete worksite address and we will locate your DLC for you.
