Thank you for your response to
CSEUnited’s MEMBERSHIP SURVEY regarding the SEIU dues increase proposal.
The response from our members has been phenomenal. To date, we’ve
received nearly 2,000 surveys and more are flooding in. Virtually
every response has been a
resounding NO.
A lot of you have asked “What’s the next step?”
Our next step is to show our Hard and Hackett that we have the support
of the members behind us. But we must flex our collective strength in a
very tangible way to make sure our voices
are heard loud and clear.
Here is the plan:
Between now and October 21, when the
delegates actually consider and vote on the dues increase plan in
Sacramento, we will be organizing several ‘flex your muscle’ campaigns.
The purpose of these campaigns is to show that we can take action
collectively.
The key to the success of these campaigns is to TAKE ACTION and
involve your co-workers.
Our first ‘flex your muscle’ campaign is to flood SEIU International
President Andy Stern with messages from Local 1000 members. Please
call and email Andy Stern at his Washington, DC office each
day starting on Sep 26 (Tues) and Sep 27 (Wed).
Tell Andy Stern that California State Workers are UNITED in opposing the
SEIU dues increase plan and that we want real dialogue with SEIU
International regarding the $15 million we pay SEIU each year.
SAMPLE MESSAGE:
“I’m a Local 1000 member and OPPOSE the SEIU dues increase
plan. We want real dialogue between Local 1000 and SEIU International
regarding the $15 million per capita payments we make to SEIU each year
that we can no longer afford.
